I knit the most amazing sweater! It’s the nicest

I knit the most amazing sweater! It’s the nicest thing I have ever made and it took lots of unknitting and redos, but I did it!! 😮😍 it’s the Letho cardigan by @moonstruck_knits and my friends from @beetleandfred are knitting theirs too for Rhinebeck. But I can’t make it to Rhinebeck this year, so I need to show off my #rhinebecksweater on IG, so be prepared for a lot of photos 😂

We have been using fabric coffee filters for our Chemex (a roadside find!) for the past year. I have just swapped the old ones for a new set of organic unbleached cotton muslin (washed maaaany times before using for food), and this stack is now mine to cut up and play with. A little is already going into my tiny art for the next edition of the Wandering Snail Post.

Picking pears from the old tree that was here when we moved. This is the best harvest we’ve had in years - still more on the tree, 20 lbs for storing (these ripen off the tree so hopefully they will last a month in the basement)

Well, there are usually a lot more woods to see… I haven’t heard if the rivers here have crested or if they are still rising (our house is in no danger - the river has a great buffer here… elsewhere, not so much)

Taking down the map today. When I had first proposed a fabric outdoor art installation, I had assumed August would be hot and dry with an occasional rain storm. The first half of the month was certainly dry… but in the last two weeks this piece has weathered Henri and Ida… and it looks great! A small clutch of eggs have been laid on it, but no mold or even much fading. That is a really delightful surprise today ☀️🌧☀️💦☀️

I had forgotten some multiflora rose petals in the dehydrator… and I forgot what I had planned to do with them. Last year we mixed them (fresh) into honey and that was very tasty in iced tea. But I am pretty sure I had a reason why I dried them this year… just wish I could remember what it was 🤔🌹🥀

Last night I caught a key word that I had missed in the Letho knitting pattern and realized that I had missed the point where the right and left halves diverged… so now I have two left sides 😬😆

Fortunately it’s only about 6 inches of knitting to rip back and while I couldn’t bring myself to do it last night, I am finding the humor in it already. 11lbs of corn in the freezer today - I ended up ge

11lbs of corn in the freezer today - I ended up getting everything shucked and blanched last night, and then it was time for sleep. So today I cut it off the cob and bagged it up for the freezer.

Now I am feeding the remains of future meals to my future meals. Some kind of time travel is happening here 🤔🙃 No time machine needed, just a freezer.

Processing corn tonight, I have 45 ears to go in the freezer. It’s not my favorite night time task, but I just got to the Three Sisters chapter of Braiding Sweetgrass (which I seem to end up listening to every summer) and I feel like I have some good company tonight.
